This was a commission project for a little girl’s bedroom. The mother approached me through Facebook before I started my channel, and she wanted a personalized toy box for her beautiful daughter Aizlyn. I had dimensions and a free will to do whatever I wanted to as long as I met the dimensions. That was enough for me to accept the job! I took a couple of days to get my plans together and then I started work. I knew that I wanted a rustic unique look with high quality style points.
So I decided to do knotty pine stained with a fruit stain from Sherwin Williams and combined that with half blind variable spaced dovetails. I found some “no slam” door hinges to protect little fingers. I also added long slit just below the lid in the front of the box. The inside is sprayed with lacquer and left a natural color, but the outside is personalized with bright pink, varsity lettering sporting the name of this beautiful girl, Aizlyn! This was given to the family with rave reviews from everyone that seen it. I enjoyed this project and it gave me ideas for my daughter’s next toy box.
Thank you for looking and I hope you can leave me comments below. Please be safe in your shops and if you build one of your own, please share with me.
Plans will be available on in my store (http://rhwoodshop.com/store).
